5 Pool Winterizing Chemicals That Will Keep Your Pool Clean

January 28, 2023 by Andrew Leave a Comment

Whether you live in a blanket of snow or a winter place, winter pool maintenance is a must to protect your pool from freezing during the winter time. You can also save your money and investment by taking care of the pool properly. That also helps you to prevent your pool from any kind of winter damage.

Many householders use pool covers before the winter arrives, but it is not the exact solution. Homeowners must know to protect their pools from freezing. If you notice that your pool pipe is cracking gradually, you have to understand the time when you should protect your pool from freezing. Or else, you use a digital timer with a temperature sensor for notifying you about the exact time of maintaining your pool properly.

5 Pool winterizing chemicals

If you miss covering your pool at the right time, here are five pool winterizing chemicals that will keep your pool clean and hazard-free from any damages.

1. Winter Algaecide or Pool Algaecide 60

During winter, you can use Winter Algaecide which is a Copper-free chemical for removing all types of algae from your pool. But yes, keep in mind that, after adding the Pool Algaecide 60, you must effectively cover the pool to protect your pool.

It protects your pool throughout the winter from the growth of algae and this chemical is formulated to be compatible with different chemicals. This winterizing algaecide is used for fighting against cold weather algae for up to 5 months and this chemical does not interfere with other winter pool chemicals.

2. Winterizer Pill

You can apply this to your pool as a winterization process although it does not affect the water chemistry. If your pool suffers from high metal contamination, scaling and strains during extremely cold conditions, this type of pill helps you to save your pool significantly.

However, this is a slow treatment that you can use not only during winter but for covering the pool for all the seasons from stains, scum and cloudy weather.

3. Chlorine-Free Shock

To keep your pool freezing-free, you should apply Chlorine-Free Shock. You can use this with satisfaction as Chlorine-Free Shock does not damage your surface water line during winter.

However, if you have shocked your pool water before, then you do not need to add pool shock again. In addition to that, you have to observe whether the total chlorine level is within range, especially in these extremely cold conditions, so you do not need to add oxidizer in your pool to prevent your pool.

The main function of chemicals is to eradicate organic contaminants like dead skin, sweat and oil from your pool surface as well as it also breaks the inorganic contaminants such as deodorant and lotion. An oxidizer may destroy chloramines through which free choline has to be raised and you have to make sure that your pool must be opened for gas release.

4. Phosphate Removers

Phosphate Removers are the winterizing chemicals that will keep your pool clean throughout the winter season by removing algae from the water surfaces. However, you cannot clean your pool with the help of Phosphate Removers.

Furthermore, a winter pool cover is required that helps you to cover your pool to protect the pool. This type of Phosphate Removers includes the addition of iron, calcium and aluminium salts to get phosphorus precipitation. This is something you can use to eradicate the inorganic forms of phosphate from the pool and it is considered an idea to treat your pool at the primary level before and after starting the season.

5. Winter Stain & Scale Treatment

Winter Stain & Scale Treatment are the essential chemicals which prevent iron and copper-like metals from oxidizing and making the pool’s surfaces stain. By using Winter Stain & Scale Treatment, you can prevent calcium and salts from contamination and keep your pool clean from the surface area. This treatment is very useful for cleaning your pool with saltwater pools, and high calcium levels and providing safety to your pool.

You have to be sure about the process that you take to use these chemicals to keep your pool clean during the winter. And if you are not sure about the application process of these chemicals, then contact nearby professionals or the shopkeepers from where you buy, they will guide you. Read More>>
